Certification Marks

ETL Listed
An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the North American ETL Listed mark signifies that it was tested and meets the minimum requirements of prescribed product safety standards. Moreover, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance. A product bearing the ETL Listed mark with the "us" identifier at the 4 o'clock position has been tested and deemed compliant to U.S. product safety standards only. An ETL Listed mark with a "c" identifier at the 8 o'clock position means the product bearing it complies with Canadian product safety standards only. And an ETL Listed mark with both "us" and "c" identifiers at the 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions respectively, signifies that the product bearing the mark complies with both U.S. and Canadian product safety standards.
ETL Verified
An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the ETL Verified mark is proof that it was tested and complies with the minimum requirements of a prescribed industry standard. As each industry standard's testing criteria and follow-up provisions vary, consult with the administration association for specific program requirements. The ETL Verified mark is widely used in the cabling products industry as evidence of compliance with a number of its association testing programs.
Warnock Hersey Listed
Building material bearing ETL SEMKO's Warnock Hersey Listed mark indicates that it was tested and meets the minimum requirements of the prescribed product safety standards. What's more, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance. A product bearing the Warnock Hersey Listed mark with the "us" identifier at the 4 o'clock position has been tested and deemed compliant to U.S. product safety standards only. A Warnock Hersey Listed mark with a "c" identifier at the 8 o'clock position means the product bearing it complies with Canadian product safety standards only. And a Warnock Hersey Listed mark with both "us" and "c" identifiers at the 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions, respectively, signifies that the product bearing the mark complies with both U.S. and Canadian product safety standards. The Warnock Hersey Listed mark appears on a host of non-electrified building materials including, but not limited to, metal and wood fire doors, roofing materials, curtain walls, and door hardware and locking mechanisms.
GS Mark
An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the GS mark indicates that it was tested and complies with the minimum requirements of the German Device Safety Act (a.k.a., GSG). The GS mark is a licensed mark of the German government, which may only be issued by an accredited product safety testing and certification agency. ETL SEMKO is authorized to issue the GS mark-wholly enabled by the electro-technical products partnership its parent company Intertek maintains with the German-based Dekra Certification Services. A GS mark issued by ETL SEMKO will carry the "ITS" corporate identifier in the upper left-hand corner of the mark.
S Mark
An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the S mark signifies that it was tested and meets the minimum requirements of prescribed and harmonized European Union product safety
CE Marking
The CE mark is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to indicate conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European Directives. The letters 'CE' are an abbreviation of Conformité Européenne, French for European conformity. The CE mark must be affixed to a product if it falls under the scope of the approx. 20 so called 'New Approach' Directives. Without the CE marking, and thus without complying with the provisions of the Directives, the product may not be placed in the market or put into service in the fifteen member states of the European Union and Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. However, if the product meets the provisions of the applicable European Directives, and the CE mark is affixed to a product, these countries may not prohibit, restrict or impede the placing in the market or putting into service of the product. Thus, CE marking can be regarded as the products trade passport for Europe.
INTERTEK Worldwide EMC Verification Mark
The product with this mark on it has been certified by ITS ETL SEMKO. This verification mark indicates that the product has been tested to and conforms with the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) requirements in the countries listed on the label. The manufacturing site has been audited.
